Xylitol

Xylitol is a common additive to use for sugar free items. It is very common in gum and candies that are sugar free. It is also used in many peanut butters. While this additive doesn't seem to have effects on humans the impact to a dog can be life threatening. Unfortunately Xylitol can go by many names. The names I know of are listed below. It is of the utmost importance to get your dog to the vet and/or call poison control for next steps if Xylitol is consumed by your dog. Please always look at ingredients before you feed human food to dogs and keep products that are dangerous out of reach.
